Spectrum is a specialist Neurodevelopmental Assessment service — designed to help families and schools understand and meet the needs of children and young people where autistic or ADHD traits have been identified.
Whilst other providers offer NICE-compliant private autism and ADHD assessments, we believe Spectrum stands out for our clinical expertise, personal approach, and practical follow-up support.
Our autism assessment pathway includes the following:-
NICE-Compliant Accepted Reports
Spectrum's assessments meet or exceed National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, with our reports being accepted by the NHS, educational institutions, and local authorities.

Free Initial Screening
Before booking a full assessment, families can complete our free screening service. This enables our clinical team to review background information and advise whether a prompt assessment is recommended, or whether a “watch and wait” approach might be beneficial.

Flexible Observation Options
Spectrum can carry out observations at home to reduce anxiety for young people, while also offering clinic-based assessments for those who prefer not to have visitors at home.
Spectrum provide Autism and ADHD assessments in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridge and North London.

Specialist in Atypical Presentations & Social Masking
Our clinicians are experienced in recognising autism presentations that are often missed — including in girls and boys who mask or camouflage their traits. We understand the subtle signs and use a wide evidence base to reach accurate conclusions.

Face-to-Face Observations Only
While some providers now offer virtual observations, we believe children and young people are best assessed in person. We therefore only provide face-to-face observations to ensure the highest quality, NICE-compliant evaluations.

Follow-Up Educational Psychologist Consultation
Every family referred to Spectrum is offered a follow-up consultation with Dr Sarah Lewis-Hayes, Child & Adolescent Educational Psychologist to discuss the assessment findings and explore support options.
