Post-Diagnostic support

We understand that following a diagnosis of autism or ADHD further post-diagnostic support may be required.  When a child receives a diagnosis, families are unsure what to do next.  We are able to offer families whose children have received a diagnosis either through Spectrum Autism or an alternative provider, the following options for post-diagnostic support.

Autism Support in schools

Consultation with Educational Psychologist

Following an Autism or Combined Neurodevelopmental assessment, families may wish to seek further guidance or support as new questions or challenges arise.

Spectrum offers follow-up consultations with Dr. Sarah Lewis-Hayes, Child & Adolescent Educational Psychologist, to provide professional advice and support at any point after an assessment.

These sessions can help families better understand their child’s needs, explore strategies for home or school, and discuss any concerns that may emerge over time.

Consultations are available in 30-minute or 1-hour sessions. Families are welcome to contact us at any point to arrange a meeting with Dr. Lewis-Hayes.

In School Observation

This option involves a post-diagnostic visit to your child's school or educational setting. This will include an observation of your child or young person and a consultation with the school SENCo or Inclusion Manager.

This would be carried out by an Educational Psychologist, Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, or Autism Specialist Teacher, and would aim to ensure that the educational setting fully understand your child or young person's profile relating to their autism diagnosis.

This post-diagnostic option is intended to be supportive and collaborative, and a record of the observation and consultation would then be shared with the family and, with the family's consent, the educational setting. This post-diagnosis support benefits the child, family, and teaching staff, and can be used as additional evidence to assist with applying for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Bespoke Post-Diagnostic support

Following a diagnosis of Autism, it can be helpful for your child or young person to fully understand their own profile of strengths and needs and what this means to them.

Spectrum Autism Diagnostic Services offer face to face or online sessions directly with children and young people to help them explore their understanding of their Autistic profile.

As this is a bespoke service based on the needs of the child or young person costings may vary. Please do contact us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.
